Here it is the groove slightly transformed. Just a bit of a break from the norm
Ah! Seattle summer. There’s nothing better than the celebration of good weather here in the beautiful Northwest. I can’t help but get excited for all there is to do, like going to the car wash, strolling Alki beach and expecially the downtown festivities. Personally, what always lets me know that summer is about to begin is Seattle’s Pigs on Parade. Every year around the beginning of June since ’01 you’ll find pigs everywhere on the streets of Seattle that represent the piggy bank that saved the Pike Place market from demolition. In spirit of summer, here’s my favorite events where you’ll find me every year:
Seafair – A month-long, region-wide barbecue, that brings an entire community together in celebration. If you’re into boating, this is your event. The lake is swarmed with boats and surrounded by BBQ’s. In addition to parades you’ll also get performances from the Blue Angels and hopefully see the awesome flight of a hydroplane race.
Begins 4th of July weekend.
Bite of Seattle – Food festival. I would recommend avoiding any meals for a few days before the festival. This is by far one of my favorite festivals since I was just a little guy. If you’re out of the city, hop on the Metro bus because it gets crowded. Once there, enjoy food vendors from some of the areas most known restaurants A L L D A Y L O N G. My stomach is crying just thinking about it.
July 20-22
Pike Place Market Festival – 100th birthday of the farmer’s market. This is a great festival for the whole family with parades, historical exhibits, movie nights and more.
August 17th
Bumpershoot – Music and Arts Festival. Another top favorite where all weekend is spent at the Seattle Center with performances from local musicians. This year, we’ll also be in the presence of the Wu-Tang Clan, Lupe Fiasco and Sean Paul. Regardless of your genre, there will be a good mix of performers. Another bus trip is recommended for this party.
