Infamous Wall of Chewy Treats

I tried to find a delicous photo of the wall covered in thousands of people’s chewing gum in Seattle’s Post Alley, but I couldn’t seem to find one that looked as tasty as it may have been to those who have contributed over the years. I had to blog about it because it’s just one of those things you have to see. Apparently the wall started in the 90’s when patrons would use gum to anchor coins to the wall while waiting to buy theater tickets. I’m sure the Alibi Room may have some good stories about it. To get the best look I recommend checking out a virtual tour of the gum wall by VRSeattle.com. Be sure to stop at the Alibi for a drink when visting in person (it’s the dark entry you can see by doing a 180 turn in the VR).

In my research, it also appears that Seattle isn’t the only city facinated by sticking gum on a wall. I also found there’s another in San Luis Obispo and Greenville Ohio. Humans trip me out sometimes. Of course, who am I digging for clues on it’s origin? At least the video of the guy licking the wall makes me feel better about my simple curiousity.
